Professional CV Writing:
CV is an abbreviation of Curriculum Vitae, Latin for "course of life". The plural is curricula vitae.
A curriculum vitae may be called a vita, but should not be called a curriculum vita or just vitae; the former is ungrammatical Latin and the latter is nonsensical.
The word résumé is directly from French and means "summary".

However, your CV needs to be more than just a summary of your working history – it needs to SELL you to a potential employer. Just because a product is fantastic, it will not sell if a company makes a half-hearted attempt to get it to market.
In the current climate your CV can have just 10 seconds to create that vital first impression and with recruitment agencies and employers receiving countless applications every day – these vital first impressions will prove your interview worth and ultimately your fate.
For many jobseekers, their CV is the only one that they see and as such they are unable to benchmark it against any other. In this case, how do you know that your CV is good, bad or just ugly?
In summary, your CV should be achievement based and demonstrate how you have added value in your roles. A potential employer should look at your CV and think "wow, if they (you) can do that for XYZ Company, imagine what they can do here". Your CV should contain:
- Contact Information, a mobile number and email address as a minimum.
- A short but punchy profile that summarises your skills and experience.
- List of major achievements
- Career history in reverse chronological order, again achievement based.
- Education/Qualifications
- Interests/Hobbies
Remember, employers are interested in HOW you have done things. For example, don't just say "managed a team", say something like "successfully managed a team of 4 to grow sales revenue by 30% over a 3month period".
